Jazz @ Pier 84 gets Summer Sizzling!

May 26

Cool river breezes and hot live jazz... What better way to spend a summer evening? Join us every first Thursday in June, July and August for Jazz @ Pier 84, our newest concert series, featuring fantastic performances by legendary musicians from the Jazz Foundation of America.

We kick off this Thursday, June 1 with George Braith, a legend in the field of modern progressive jazz and a true musical innovator, known for playing multiple horns at once and inventing the two-horned Braithophone. His dynamic sound and phenomenal harmonics are sure to entrance our audiences.

Jazz trombonist Art Baron keeps the music going on July 6! The last trombone player Duke Ellington ever hired, Baron joined Ellington’s Band at age 23 and now leads a band of Ellington Band alumni called The Duke’s Men. Baron has performed or recorded with an impressive and diverse roster of musicians, including Stevie Wonder, James Taylor, and Bruce Springsteen. We couldn’t be more jazzed for the star power he brings to our riverfront!

Rounding out Jazz @ Pier 84’s inaugural season on August 3 is virtuoso organist, composer and pianist Greg Lewis and the Organ Monk Trio. A mainstay on NYC’s jazz, blues and funk scenes, Greg Lewis is making music for the next generation of jazz innovators, using the organ’s incredible range to create surprising harmonies and grooving rhythms.

We’re thrilled to bring these incredible artists to Pier 84 and to partner with the Jazz Foundation of America, an organization that serves jazz and blues musicians in need by providing everything from performance opportunities to emergency living expenses, medical care and housing.

This fantastic addition to our Summer of Fun is sure to groove its way into the hearts of music-loving Park fans, so mark your calendars! We’ll see you at Jazz @ Pier 84 on June 1, July 6 and August 3.
