Laughter and Spectacular Support for Park at Star-Studded Gala!
Last Thursday night, our 19th annual Hudson River Park Gala sparkled in celebration of the Park we love! Joined by more than 1,000 devoted supporters, we honored Park heroes, filled Pier Sixty and Pier 62 with laughter and festivity, and broke our fundraising record.
The sold-out event opened with Cocktails by the Carousel at Pier 62, where guests enjoyed sweeping views of the Chelsea lawn bowl, a dazzling fireboat show on the river, and a playful peek at our Roving River Tricycle mobile aquarium.
As the sun set over the Hudson, the Cobra Performing Arts Marching Band rallied the crowd to Pier Sixty, where guests took their seats among luxuriant décor that brought our Park’s verdant ecosystem to life. Special guests Mike Myers, Seth Meyers and Coco Rocha guided us through a festive dinner program — highlighting the Park’s transformation and bright future, and celebrating the contributions of our esteemed honorees, Citi’s CEO Michael L. Corbat, Friends Board Vice Chair Justin Sadrian, and the legendary Robert De Niro.
Truly a night of memorable moments: team Myers/Meyers kept us laughing; eloquent remarks by former mayor Michael Bloomberg drew a standing ovation; and a spirited auction, led by Lydia Fenet, featuring lots from Seth Meyers, Martha Stewart, Gloria Gaynor and Robert De Niro, kept bidders on the edge of their seats! A powerful performance by Gloria Gaynor closed out the incredible evening in high style.
This year's Gala raised $3.27 million — more than ever before — to benefit New York's Park for Play. Thank you to all of our Friends, to our Volunteer Sponsor, Citi, and Park Sponsors, Brookfield and Chelsea Piers, who helped make this event such a success. All funds raised are crucial for the continued care and growth of our urban oasis, ensuring that we can continue to enhance the lives of New Yorkers for years to come.
