Alerts & Advisories
Please be advised that Chelsea Waterside Park Play Area reopened on February 16, 2019
The esplanade at Morton Street is now open for pedestrian traffic. The landscaped area will remain closed until work has concluded. Intermittent short-term closures of portions of the esplanade may be required while the landscape is restored.
The Chelsea Lawn Bowl and The Pier 40 Finger Pier are closed for the winter.
Hudson River Park is improving the playground at 51. The safety surfaces require restoration after years of heavy use and exposure to the elements. During the restoration process, contractors will also improve drainage, apply protective sealants and make other miscellaneous repairs needed for a combination of safety and maintenance reasons. These improvements will ensure that the playgrounds remain a safe place for children to play. We plan to re-open by Summer 2019. Also, sections of Pier 45 and the southern portion of Pier 84 will be closed as we repair pavers in the seating area and improve the soil to better support the pier’s mature trees. Work on Pier 45 and 84 are anticipated being completed by Summer 2019. Thank you in advance for your patience during the construction process.
Pier 40 - Picnic House is closed until further notice
NYS and NYC have worked together to install temporary barricades along the entire bikeway. Cyclists are cautioned to slow down at intersections, to stay in lanes and to watch for pedestrians crossing. Pedestrians are asked to use the separate esplanade wherever possible.
