HRPK brings us together, especially in summer. As the weather warms up and the days grow long, New Yorkers and visitors from around the world turn to our green, open space not only for our sunny waterfront and river breezes, but also for hundreds of free cultural events, fitness programs and hands-on environmental education opportunities: Hudson River Park’s Summer of Fun.
Providing engaging and diverse programming that everyone can access and enjoy is a cornerstone of Hudson River Park’s role in our community and making sure we can take part in events together safely is our top priority. That’s why we’re launching HRPK’s first ever virtual Summer of Fun – bringing all of the music, movement, learning and laughter of summer in the Park to your home.
In celebration of the beginning of our digital season, we’re sharing a preview of the fun ahead. You can also explore our calendar here, with more information to come! And be sure to follow us on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook for live streams and updates.
Family programming brings imagination-sparking entertainment home.
Get ready for a summer of sing-a-longs, magic shows and storytime adventures with virtual Hudson RiverKids programs, now through September. We kicked off our season on Monday with Falu’s Bazaar – check it out here! And coming up Monday June 22, mark your calendars for Drag Queen Story Hour, live at 4 PM on Facebook and Instagram. Plus, every other Thursday starting in July, join us for virtual story hour with readings in partnership with our sponsor Macmillan Publishers.
Savor the music and get on your feet with virtual concerts and dance programs.
We’re thrilled to launch our very first virtual concert tonight with NYC vocalist and multi-instrumentalist jazz performer, Whitney Marchelle. Marchelle has shaped the NYC Jazz scene for decades and she anchors an outstanding lineup of virtual Jazz at Pier 84 performances, presented in partnership with Jazz Foundation of America (JFA). JFA supports thousands of musicians each year, and brings free jazz music to HRPK each summer – and this year, right to your home.
Our beloved concert series, Sunset on the Hudson, launches virtually on July 9 with The Big Takeover, known for a rich sound rooted in the genres and rhythms of Jamaican pop. Sunset on the Hudson brings local artists that reflect the NYC music scene’s dynamism and diversity – be sure to check out the full line up of longtime favorites and newcomers, including internationally renowned twin DJs Coco & Breezy. We can’t wait to listen and groove with you!
As anyone who’s joined us for Sunset Salsa can tell you, there’s nothing like a summer evening of salsa dancing to set your spirits soaring. Starting on Tuesday, June 23 and continuing on Tuesdays through September, bring the spirit of summer in Hudson River Park home with virtual Sunset Salsa. Featuring live instructional sessions with Talia Castro-Pozo and her world-renowned contemporaries, accompanied by music playlists on Spotify.
Virtual science programs take STEM discovery from our living laboratory to your living room.
Starting in July and continuing through the fall, HRPK has planned an engaging and inclusive lineup of virtual programs that connect science lovers of all ages with the Park’s River Sanctuary. Follow us on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook for updates on dates and sign-up information, and stay tuned to our events calendar for updates.

Plus, join us for Live from the Field to see our scientists conduct research throughout the Park – including studying environmental DNA, analyzing microplastics, sampling fish populations and more!
Wildlife lovers, listen up! At virtual Shell-ebrate Oysters, we’re bringing a long-time Park favorite home to you. Take a deeper dive into the history and environmental importance of the native Eastern Oyster, as you join us for virtual oyster monitoring. Able to head into the Park?
