Bring the Winter Games to your Park!

February 9

We’re getting into the Olympic spirit here at New York’s Park for Play. How could we not? Home to so many ways to get active and play, Hudson River Park abounds with dedicated athletes who make our piers, courts and fields their arena no matter the weather.

As the world’s best winter athletes get ready to compete in PyeongChang, we’ve rounded up some ways for to brave the chill, get active, and channel that athletic energy – right on our waterfront!

Our Park may be known for on-the-water recreation, but we’re no stranger to winter sports. When fresh snow coats our riverfront, cross-country skiers often drop by to forge tracks along our four miles. For ice hockey players and figure skating lovers, the Sky Rink at Chelsea Piers – where Olympic medalists such as Sasha Cohen have trained – is a prime destination.

Basketball, tennis and soccer may be summer sports for Olympians, but for Park fans they’re a year round recreation. With popular basketball courts, tennis courts and turf fields from Chelsea to Tribeca, your Park serves up layups, backhands and goals all winter long – won’t you join us for a game?

For those inspired to improve athleticism and push their endurance, our long riverfront invites a perfect challenge! Our bustling bikeway beckons winter’s most intrepid riders, and runners flock to our paths no matter the weather to challenge themselves along our four miles (six if you jog the perimeter of our public piers)!

Here’s to a fantastic winter Olympics – and an active, inspired season of athletics in #HudsonRiverPark!
