Photo-Synthesis Winners Show Stunning Winter Riverfront

March 15

After the Park’s trees shed their fall colors and before spring buds emerge, you’ll find some of HRPK’s most striking views. Just ask the photographers that make Hudson River Park their subject all winter long.

In fact, that’s exactly what we did.

We invited Park lovers on social media to share their best photos of this winter in Hudson River Park by tagging #HRPK – and the winter Photo-Synthesis entries we received showcase the unique and often dramatic beauty of our Park’s quietest season.

For the first time, we’ve picked two winners. One, a panorama from Instagram user @brett28b, features the extensive ice floes we saw along the Hudson River this winter.

The second, an active close-up by @mjccitykitty, puts a bright new spin on snow removal along our esplanade.

Our honorable mentions also bring new and beautiful perspectives to beloved Park scenery…

This photo by @blackinkpics is one of the most unusual and compelling depictions we’ve seen of The Apple.

Another arresting photo of #ArtinHRPK – @blensaw captured a quiet moment by the Long Time water wheel on Pier 66.

And our winner @brett28b makes the list twice with this winter wonderland shot of the Tribeca Boardwalk illuminated by NYC lights.

These photos remind us why a visit to HRPK is well-worth braving the winter chill, but we’re thrilled spring is just around the corner! (We know it is – witch hazel, the very first flowers of the season, have bloomed in Tribeca). Keep your cameras ready as your Park bursts into bloom and follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram – spring Photo-Synthesis will launch soon.
