City of Water Day Shoreline Cleanup

Join us for City of Water Day at Hudson River Park to monitor plastics and remove marine debris!

Hudson River Park is celebrating City of Water Day with the Waterfront Alliance, spreading awareness about the importance of our coastlines. Although our beautiful Hudson River is much cleaner than it once was, marine debris remains a challenge, negatively impacting the river’s water quality and wildlife.

As dedicated stewards, Hudson River Park’s River Project has made removing marine debris and studying the plastic pollution in our waters central to their work. These initiatives have not only produced award-winning research, but they’ve also helped make our estuary healthier!

Hudson River Park engages with community volunteers to count and categorize marine debris from the Park’s shorelines to build a collective understanding of the impact plastics have on our environment. Additionally, to continue building our Park sustainability initiatives, Hudson River Park launched Park Over Plastic in 2019, a program to reduce single-use plastic park-wide.  We can all take steps to reduce our plastic footprint for a greener future!
