Due to unforeseen circumstances, Meet the Fishes is canceled. Our tanks are offline following a piece of plastic debris that was blocking our aquaria pipes, causing stress to our fish ambassadors. This is a great reminder to reduce our reliance on single-use plastics, which cause issues for marine wildlife worldwide. We apologize for this inconvenience and hope that you’ll join us for Wetlab Look-ins in the coming weeks. Visit here for more information.

The Wetlab is a research aquarium that features native Hudson River wildlife. Our flow-through aquarium system includes fish and other organisms collected as part of our River Project’s ongoing Fish Ecology Survey.

At Meet the Fishes, you have the opportunity to meet Hudson River wildlife face to face. Our River Project staff will be leading tours through the Wetlab of our fantastic fishes, guiding the adventurous through a wildlife touch tank and leading kid-friendly activities! Join us for Meet the Fishes from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Wetlab, located on the Pier 40 South Walkway.

During this celebration, you’ll have the opportunity to see some of our first marine residents for the 2022 season. Because the Wetlab is a flow-through aquarium, as the season goes on and water conditions change, many of these residents will be released with new animals rotating into their tanks. This means that no two trips to the Wetlab are the same, and you are seeing a representative sample of the species that are inhabiting Hudson River Park at the moment you visit.

Can’t make it to Meet the Fishes? Be sure to check out our aquarium open hours during Wetlab Look-ins, running from June to October!
