Maritime Association of the Port of NY-NJ and the Downtown Boathouse at Pier 26 present Shared Harbor Day, a kick-off to National Safe Boating Week and the summer season!
Join the Harbor Operations Education Subcommittee for presentations on commercial harbor traffic and NOAA’s switch to electronic charts followed by Q&A, plus you can share navigation tips with fellow boaters over lunch. We’ll gather in the large, indoor space of the Downtown Boathouse at Pier 26 in Hudson River Park, but still be right next to the water for inspiration.
This event will take place from 10:00 AM–3:00 PM at the Downtown Boathouse at Pier 26. The program is free and open to all. RSVPs via Eventbrite are strongly encouraged and appreciated to ensure we have enough materials and refreshments. You will not need a ticket; please just give your name at the check-in table.
Feel free to dress comfortably for spending the day on the pier. We had hoped to offer the possibility to go kayaking for a short paddle in the embayment, but the weather and river conditions might not cooperate. If conditions do allow, no special dress or equipment is required for kayaking, but you will want to be comfortable getting splashed. For additional details about free kayaking throughout the season, visit the Downtown Boathouse’s website.
