Presenting a Special Sunset on the Hudson with the Knickerbocker Chamber Orchestra

On Thursday, June 14 the Knickerbocker Chamber Orchestra kicks off our 20th Anniversary Season of Sunset on the Hudson with a celebratory performance of Hudson River Rhapsody under the big tent on Pier 45. Bring a blanket, pack a picnic and get ready to enjoy an evening of lively and dance-friendly favorites like Scott Joplin’s “Maple Leaf Rag” and “The Entertainer”; Noel Coward’s “Sail Away” and “Red Sails in the Sunset”; and Aaron Copland’s “Hoe Down from Rodeo”!

Founded by conductor, composer and educator Gary S. Fagin, the Knickerbocker Chamber Orchestra is the only professional chamber orchestra based in Lower Manhattan. Known for bringing together old and new, the KCO features classical music played by leading contemporary musicians, rooted in the quickly-growing neighborhoods at the heart of old NYC; we’re thrilled to bring their talents to our riverfront.

This Thursday’s special performance serves as a spectacular kick off to our 2018 Sunset on the Hudson series, which brings a stellar lineup of musicians to Pier 45 in Greenwich Village on Fridays in June, July and August. A longtime favorite among music-loving Park fans, Sunset on the Hudson brings together compelling live music with picturesque Hudson River Park sunsets—the perfect way to start a fun, relaxing summer weekend.

We can’t wait to see you in the Park for Thursday’s Knickerbocker Chamber Orchestra performance—and throughout the season as our 20th Anniversary Summer of Fun continues.
