Fun Facts:
- Mud dogs are deposit detritivores that will eat nearly any organic matter
- Their species name means “common”, and indeed they are incredibly numerous
- They belong to the family Nassaridae meaning “wicker basket”
- They overwinter in the mud, using their siphon as a snorkel
- Hard, calcareous shell protects them from many predators, but not Blackfish!
