The historic steamship Lilac docks on the north side of Hudson River Park’s Pier 25.

Built in 1933 for the U.S. Lighthouse Service and retired by the Coast Guard in 1972, the ship is now owned by the non-profit Lilac Preservation Project, Lilac is America’s oldest lighthouse tender and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The ship once carried supplies to lighthouses and maintained buoys and is now a floating museum dedicated to aids to navigation.

Admission to Lilac is free. Because space is limited, reservations are sometimes required for special events–be sure to visit their calendar for up-to-date details.
