About the Artists
“A Cuban jazz pianist who is one of New York City’s best young timba musicians” (New York Latin Culture Magazine), Axel Tosca leads a trio that blends progressive Jazz, Cuban Timba, and R&B, with a dash of Hip-Hop.
Since its founding in 2018, this group has performed at the NYC Winter Jazzfest, Blue Note-Tokyo, Club Metro-Kyoto, Dizzy’s Club NYC, Birdland, NuBlu Jazz Festival, Minton’s PlayHouse, The Queens Library and The Urby.
For this event they are joined by Tosca’s mother, famed Cuban Trova singer Xiomara Laugart. A founding member of the renowned Latin fusion band Yerba Buena, Laugart also played the lead role in the 2007 Off-Broadway musical Celia: The Life and Music of Celia Cruz.
