It takes a lot of work to keep Hudson River Park’s piers, waterfront gardens and public spaces clean, green and gorgeous.

Every day, Park staff care for four miles of waterfront, creating welcoming public spaces for millions of visitors each year. Behind that work is another essential force: thousands of volunteers who donate their time to help keep the Park looking great.

For more than a decade, Citi has helped make that work possible as the Presenting Sponsor of Hudson River Park’s Volunteer Program. Last year alone, over 2,500 volunteers contributed their time throughout the Park, planting more than 5,000 new plants and 18,000 bulbs while seeding more than 230 loads of weeds and horticultural debris to Hudson River Park’s Community Compost Center.

Volunteers also supported critical environmental initiatives including shoreline cleanups, oyster monitoring and other River Project programs that help protect the Park’s 400-acre Estuarine Sanctuary.

Volunteers do far more than beautify the Park. They strengthen habitats, support biodiversity, improve public spaces and connect thousands of New Yorkers with one another through hands-on stewardship. In these efforts, Citi employees take a hands-on role.

Throughout June, over 250 Citi employees volunteered with the Park, with teams largely focused on the gardens around the Park’s popular Tribeca Native Boardwalk.

We also welcomed employees and their families for Citi Family Day, a special Saturday Green Team event that gave families the opportunity to volunteer alongside one of the community volunteer programs their company has helped sustain for more than a decade.

Partnerships like Citi’s help Hudson River Park Friends grow more than a volunteer program. They allow us to expand opportunities for New Yorkers to care for the Park, strengthen environmental education and habitat restoration efforts and ensure this extraordinary waterfront remains a welcoming destination for millions of visitors each year.

As one of Hudson River Park Friends’ leading Corporate Members in addition to their role as Presenting Sponsor of our Volunteer Program, Citi has been an essential partner in helping Hudson River Park thrive for years.

This fall, Hudson River Park Friends will honor Citi at our annual Gala in recognition of this enduring commitment and the many ways the company has helped Hudson River Park flourish.

We look forward to celebrating a partnership that continues to make a lasting difference for the Park and our community. Together, we’re growing a greener, healthier Hudson River Park: one volunteer day at a time.
