What is your primary role at your company?
I serve as Director of Marketing, Events, and Partnerships for the Meatpacking District Business Improvement District (BID), where I oversee the district’s brand identity and storytelling, cultural programming, and community engagement strategies. My work sits at the intersection of public space activation, destination marketing, and placemaking. From art installations to music series, I focus on initiatives that bring vibrancy and recognition to the district’s public realm.
Is there anything else you would like to highlight about your company, your personal involvement, or any upcoming projects you’d like to promote?
As part of our public art programming, we recently launched The Mothership Connection – a large-scale public art installation by British-Trinidadian artist Zak Ové, produced in partnership with NALA Projects. Standing nearly 30 feet tall and lit up like a beacon, The Mothership Connection merges African iconography with sci-fi mythology, resembling a futuristic African rocket ship, crowned with a super-sized Mende headpiece. We’ve already received wonderful feedback from nearby residents and visitors alike. As someone who has long championed art in the public space, this project is deeply meaningful. It transforms one of our most visible corridors(connecting directly to the Hudson River) into a space for reflection, joy, and cultural dialogue. It’s an example of how art, community, and creative placemaking can come together to redefine how people experience space and the city itself.
What aspect of working with HRPK Friends on the Business Council is the most rewarding for you?
What I find most rewarding about being part of the Business Council is the opportunity to connect with people across a variety of industries, from beauty and finance to real estate and hospitality. Despite our diverse backgrounds, there’s a shared commitment to helping New Yorkers feel more connected to their parks and public spaces. I also love learning about the work happening within Hudson River Park itself with new developments along the West Side, to the diverse wildlife and plant species that thrive there. And of course, the networking events and previews are always fabulous — it’s truly a treat all around.
