Route 9A West Side Highway Public Meeting

The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) invites you to attend the second public meeting for the Rt. 9A West Side Highway Mobility & Safety Enhancement Study.

This NYSDOT study aims to enhance the safety of all roadway users along the State Route 9A (West Side Highway) from Battery Place to W 59 Street in Manhattan.

Why should you attend?

This in-person meeting will provide an opportunity to explore potential design elements along the corridor and share feedback on existing conditions and issues. Your input is essential to ensuring the study reflects the diverse needs of all who travel this route.

Phase 1, completed in July 2025, established the goals and objectives that will guide the next steps of the study. Building on that foundation, this second public meeting will continue efforts to develop a Concept Plan as part of Phase 2.

During this public meeting, participants will explore how different design elements could be integrated along the corridor and discuss what potential changes best support the goals identified in Phase 1. The feedback gathered from this community engagement process will carry forward into Phase 3 of the study, where concepts will undergo comparative evaluation and feasibility analysis.

We kindly encourage all participants to RSVP by Monday, January 12.
