SUBMERGE Marine Science Festival celebrates New York City’s coastal waters by bringing marine science to life, and is produced by the educators who know our River best – HRPK’s River Project. This year’s virtual festival will showcase dynamic marine environments, wildlife and science in New York City and the surrounding areas.
Hudson River Park’s River Project is committed to advancing public awareness and understanding of our local waterways. The SUBMERGE festival aims to inspire audiences of all ages and make marine science and STEM accessible and engaging for everyone. Each year at SUBMERGE, dozens of organizations that further this mission share their work.
This day of virtual science invites the public to experience local wildlife, awesome experiments, kid-approved science entertainment and more! Tune in live to learn more with inspiring hourly themes including wildlife, field science, plastic pollution and climate change.

Student Vision Challenge
This is your chance to share your vision for the future of the Hudson River! Students K–12 are invited to identify an environmental issue impacting the Hudson River and then design a solution. Solution examples may include a written community volunteer program to restore natural habitats, a homemade device that cleans up plastic pollution, a blueprint sketch to make city shorelines more accessible etc. Submissions are welcome to range from videos to drawings, posters to 3D models. Participants who submit a photo or video and description of their solution by Wednesday, September 16 have a chance to present their projects during the festival! Please submit your vision here and send any questions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
