Calling all Anglers, Big City Fishing is Back in Hudson River Park!

For the first time since 2019, you can drop in a line with us at Big City Fishing. Our River Project team is hosting this free, catch and release fishing program all summer long!

Big City Fishing

Sundays through August 28
Pier 51 at Horatio St.
11:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Wednesdays through August 24
Pier 26 at N Moore St.
5:00 PM – 7:00 PM

During these programs, we practice catch and release fishing, meaning that the animals we catch will either be released back into the Hudson River or brought back to our Wetlab temporarily for educational purposes and subsequently released later in the season. Fishing is one way that you can connect with the Hudson River while learning about wildlife found in the Park’s 400-acre Estuarine Sanctuary. Additionally, fishing helps our River Project team survey fish populations, so by participating, you can help us to learn more about local biodiversity!

Anglers of all ages and skill levels are welcome to participate at Big City Fishing. Our River Project team provides all the necessary equipment for you to learn the ins and outs of fishing, including an instructive tutorial. Join us to make a fish wish – you just might catch a black sea bass, summer flounder or more!
