David Amsterdam

President, Capital Markets and Northeast Region Colliers

David Amsterdam is President, Capital Markets and Northeast Region for Colliers. He leads the teams in top-tier cities, including New York, Boston, and Washington D.C., with added responsibility for managing and executing transactions in critical global markets.

His responsibilities include advising investors, corporate users, and landlords across the full spectrum of commercial real estate transactions and he is focused on continuing to drive revenue for the fastest-growing publicly traded real estate services and investment management firm in the world.

Mr. Amsterdam has a proven track record of outstanding success in the commercial real estate industry.  Already in his decorated career, he has held leadership positions at some of the most notable real estate firms in the world, including at Cushman & Wakefield, SL Green Realty Corp. and currently at Colliers.

While with SL Green, Mr. Amsterdam was responsible for structuring and negotiating lease transactions for a portfolio of 10 million square feet of trophy Class A assets and routinely completed nearly 100 transactions per year. He implemented redevelopment, repositioning and strategic upgrading programs throughout the portfolio and assisted with equity and structured finance investments, acquisitions and dispositions and joint ventures.

Before joining SL Green, Amsterdam served as Associate Director, Global Brokerage at Cushman & Wakefield for seven years, where he represented corporate users and owners in over three million square feet of transactions throughout the world. During his tenure with Cushman & Wakefield, Amsterdam was a recipient of the company’s “Gold Production Award” as its top producing salesperson as well as multiple awards for Service Excellence.

Prior to joining Colliers, Mr. Amsterdam served as Managing Partner of Perave Capital, a fully integrated real estate investment and advisory firm.

His industry successes have been recognized in the form of numerous awards and accolades from leading commercial real estate industry publications and organizations. In 2018, he was named to the Commercial Observer Power 100 list — an industry honor reserved for the most influential and significant individuals in real estate. Mr. Amsterdam was also selected to Real Estate Forum’s 2018 “50 Under 40” list, which recognizes the industry’s rising stars nationally. Mr. Amsterdam has also been named a “Rising Star” by Real Estate Weekly and was a Real Estate Board of New York nominee for “Most Promising Commercial Salesperson.” He is also a member of the Forbes Real Estate Council.

Mr. Amsterdam holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Syracuse University.

He is also a member of the Real Estate Advisory Board at Syracuse University, and has been active in numerous charitable organizations.
