David Juracich

Principal, JDS Development Group

David Juracich is 46 years old and comes from Melbourne, Australia. David was educated at the Jesuit boys school Xavier College where he was school prefect, and earned full Blue distinction awards in varsity Crew and Australian Rules Football. In 1991 David graduated from Monash University with a B.Business (Banking and Finance).

In 1994 David went to work on the Japanese yen interest rate swap market in Tokyo, Japan. For ten years he worked in Hong Kong and Japan. In 2003 David came to the U.S. to work with Swiss money broker Tradition on the U.S. interest rate swap market.

In 2008 David backed a development project at 202 8th Street, Brooklyn (Gowanus), a 14-story 72 apartment building designed by CetraRuddy. After than he permanently joined with the developer to buy and develop Walker Tower in Chelsea, Stella Tower in Hell’s Kitchen, 111 West 57th Street, the American Copper Buildings (626 First Avenue), and The Fitzroy (514 West 24th St.).

He is a principal at JDS Development Group and has 3500 apartments in various stages of construction in both NYC and Miami, as well as a new Standard Hotel (Miami), Miami’s largest outdoor and number one ranked restaurant (River Yacht Club) and 500,000 sq foot of retail under construction. JDS donated to the Chelsea Waterside Playground Capital Campaign.

David has three children (ages 3, 4, and 6), lives in Chelsea and his wife, Catherine, is the inaugural President of the Hudson River Park Friends Playground Committee. He is active in sports, was a state champion and nationally ranked Rower for Australia (his sister competed in the Sydney 2000 Olympics), competed in the inaugural Hudson River Games and is excited at the direction Hudson River Park has taken the past 10 years drawing more and more people from diverse interest groups to meet and enjoy a multitude of recreational activities.
