The Chelsea Waterside Park, where the ballfield is located, is being renewed and construction is currently underway. The new design includes a permanent picnic area, a new public restroom facility, an expanded and refreshed synthetic turf field, a small concession stand and an expanded dog run with separate areas for small and large dogs as well as dog fountains.

Constructing the new and improved amenities will require closures of the ballfield at times. The timing and extent of closures are being coordinated to minimize the closure durations. Please take note of our detour signs when posted and visit our alerts page for updated closures.

Hudson River Park is your home for athletic fields in Manhattan. Kick off your next practice or game at one of Hudson River Park’s five athletic fields, home to some of the most coveted and heavily used recreational fields in Manhattan. Hudson River Park’s permitted recreational fields can accommodate a variety of sports, including soccer, baseball, football, rugby, and lacrosse.

In addition to Chelsea Waterside, Pier 40’s Rooftop, Indoor and newly renovated Courtyard Fields are an iconic Park feature. More than two hundred thousand children and adults make use of the Park’s fields all year long. Open from 6 AM-midnight, these turf fields are available for informal recreational play in the relatively scarce windows when permitted groups are not scheduled.

Organizations that hold a permit during a specified date/time have priority and exclusive use of the field. Only a permit can guarantee specific rights and usage of the field.
