Claws Up, America! Crab Week is Back (With Even More Crabs)

Crustacean Nation—our time has come. Crab Week is back in Hudson River Park with more clawsome companions and more ways to connect with your inner crab and celebrate your favorite invertebrates.

What is Crab Week?

Crab Week is a weeklong crabstravaganza from July 14 to 20 — a time for our friendly neighborhood decapods to scuttle into the spotlight!

You’ll find pincers-full of crabtivating clawntent here on our website and on social media all week long, so be sure to follow us on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. Plus, you can shellebrate with us in person at our Pier 40 Wetlab’s new and improved Crab Corner during this week’s Wetlab Look-in hours.

What’s New this Year?

More Crabs!

Crabs are an important part of our Hudson River environment, which is part of what inspired us to celebrate the inaugural Crab Week in July 2023. Each season, we find a lot of familiar crustaceans in our local waters, including blue crabs, spider crabs and mud crabs. This year though, we can add two more species to the list observed in Hudson River Park: the Atlantic marsh fiddler crab and mitten crab. You’ll learn more about those critters and more as Crab Week scuttles on!

More Fun!

Our What Crab are You? Quiz is new, improved and more accurate than ever (we warned you), we’ve dropped our first ever CRAB WEEK EP (perfect for when you’re running sideways), and there are new ways to get crabby.

More Clawful Puns! (Clawbviously!)
