Gifts of Stock, Cryptocurrency and Donor-Advised Funds

Support Hudson River Park using cryptocurrency, make a gift of stock, or show your support by giving from your Donor-Advised Fund.

Your generous gift to Hudson River Park Friends helps ensure that the Park remains an essential outlet for all New Yorkers, providing millions with green open space, fresh air and natural beauty. Hudson River Park is not a NYC-run park, and we rely on private funds for our programming, maintenance and operations.

That means your support is absolutely critical to the Park’s horticultural, educational, cultural and sustainability programs, as well as the rigorous day-to-day work of keeping the Park clean, green, safe and beautiful for all.  Help us continue to keep this vital public resource thriving and growing for our community.

Giving in Cryptocurrency: Donating cryptocurrency is a non-taxable event, meaning you do not owe capital gains tax on the appreciated amount and can deduct it on your taxes. This makes cryptocurrency donations one of the most tax efficient ways to support your favorite cause. If you want to learn more about how donating crypto can lower your taxes, check out thegivingblock.com/faq. Talk to a crypto-savvy tax professional or connect with The Giving Block to get connected with one.

Gifts of Stock: By making a gift of your appreciated securities, your investment goes further, both for you and the Park. You get the tax benefit of the value of the gift on the date of transfer, and you may even pay no capital gains tax. For more information on these giving programs, please contact Friends at [email protected].

Donor-Advised Funds: Donor-advised funds (DAF) provide a straightforward, adaptable, and tax-efficient way to support Hudson River Park Friends. DAFS work like a charitable investment account, for the sole purpose of supporting charitable organizations whose work you care about. You transfer funds or assets to a tax-exempt sponsor like a public foundation, and then suggest how much and when to distribute money to Friends or other charities, sidestepping the expenses and intricacies of overseeing a private foundation.
