Promoting environmental stewardship and supporting the Park’s 400-acre Estuarine Sanctuary through public education, research and habitat enhancement is built into Hudson River Park’s mission.
Hudson River Park’s River Project scientists and educators advance these goals every day by:
- Providing accessible, hands-on environmental education programs and STEM-learning resources that inspire New Yorkers of all ages.
- Conducting research that advances our understanding of the health of the Hudson River and how we can protect it.
- Leading community-focused sustainability initiatives that engage the public on the environmental responsibility we all share.
HRPK’s River Project is an expansion of environmental education and research in the Park as well as the culmination of a yearlong strategic alliance between the Park and the original River Project, founded by marine scientist Cathy Drew 30+ years ago. Your support makes a difference as we continue to grow and integrate these dynamic scientific and environmental education initiatives.
Hudson River Park is not part of NYC Parks, and we rely on private funds for our maintenance, operations and programming — including the work of our River Project scientists. You can support this vital research, education, and community science by making a gift to Hudson River Park Friends, the Park’s designated fundraising partner.
Your generosity will help HRPK’s River Project scientists and educators continue these important initiatives — as well as supporting Hudson River Park’s horticulture, maintenance and other essential work that makes our growing Park such a valuable public space for our community to learn and connect to our environment.
