Join HRPK’s Free Virtual STEM Summer Camp

School’s out, but the learning doesn’t stop at Hudson River Park. We’re launching a six-week summer camp program for campers of all ages…and it’s completely FREE! Tune in every week for live lessons as well as interactive crafts, activities and experiments about local wildlife, the Hudson River and more.

A group of students in green shirts hold oystersCamp is in session July 14 through August 18, and we’ll kick things off next week with a hands-on introduction to the Hudson River Estuary. Our River Rangers curriculum is geared toward students ages 5-9, and STEM Explorers is designed for students ages 10-14, so budding scientists of all ages can learn, engage and enjoy.

Each week, we’ll introduce a unique theme and project — you’ll be able to check each Thursday (starting July 9) for the following week’s lessons on our website. That way students can grow familiar with the activity plan and necessary materials. We’ve designed all our activities and experiments around common household objects or items that are easily accessible and low cost.

Campers can then join us the following Tuesday as we host a live video session for River Rangers and STEM Explorers where we’ll discuss the topic of the week, share dynamic demonstrations and answer any questions to help students progress through the week’s lesson. Don’t worry if you miss the live feed! We’ll post these videos online later that day for you to watch whenever it’s convenient.

When you’ve completed each week’s lesson, come back to our website where you can upload photos of your craft or share results from your at-home experiment! We will be collecting students’ work so we can see all the great projects and post them to permanent galleries online. We’ll also share some of your crafts and experiments in the next week’s live video.

The more often you join us, the more you’ll learn about life in and around the Hudson River, so we encourage campers to participate all summer long. Even if you can’t complete a week here or there, please feel free to jump in whenever you’re available. Our lessons will be accessible online for the duration of the summer.
