Bike Skills 101 for kids are free two-hour group classes for kids age five or older who are ready to learn to ride solo in a safe, car-free environment!

These classes are designed for children aged five and up who are ready to ditch their training wheels and ride a two-wheeler for the first time. Kids will learn how to balance, pedal, start, stop, and steer a bicycle by an experienced instructor. Most students get the hang of it in one session, but even if they don’t, parents will leave equipped with an easy, low-stress technique that will have their kids riding independently in no time.

Classes will be posted here 5–10 days in advance. Register in advance on Bike New York’s website.

Bike Skills 101 is presented in partnership with Bike New York, an organization that empowers New Yorkers to transform their lives and their communities through bicycling by increasing ridership, to empowering youth to lead healthy, productive lives, to removing barriers to cycling, and advocating for and expanding services to reach more New Yorkers.
