About the Artist

Blues Hall of Fame vocalist, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Kalb has been playing music for more than 50 years. In addition to fronting the Jonathan Kalb Band, he has backed a myriad of famous blues, soul, R&B, and rock and roll legends such as Lightnin’ Hopkins, Otis Rush, Johnny Copeland, Sunnyland Slim, Honeyboy Edwards, Solomon Burke, Evelyn Champagne King, and Steve Miller.

As bandleader on the Dick Clark show he backed up Gary US Bonds, Bo Diddley, and The Crystals, and in 1995 his trio Memphis Blues Caravan opened for BB King at the Dublin Blues Fest for an audience of 30,000. He was a finalist in the Blues Foundation’s 2023 International Blues Challenge.

About Blues by the Boardwalk

This debut series, in partnership with Jazz Foundation of America, will bring together blues and roots musicians from around the region to perform in Hudson River Park. Bring a blanket and get lost in the music every Thursday in June.
