Boardwalk Blues, in partnership with Jazz Foundation of America, brings together blues and roots musicians from around the region to perform on Hudson River Park’s Pier 97.
About the Artist
Phil Young is the drummer, bandleader and founder of “Gathering of the Harlem Hip,” which has been chronicled in The New Yorker, and the Monday night fixture “Phil’s House of Blues” at Silvana . A much-loved figure in the uptown community, Young has played with legendary figures like Bobby “Blue” Bland, Ray Charles, Jimi Hendrix, George Benson, Art Farmer, Stanley Turrentine, Wild Bill Davis, and Dizzy Gillespie. This show features the all-star cast of the “House of Blues” band.
Boardwalk Blues is presented in partnership with Jazz Foundation of America. Don’t miss the Second Stage at Blues BBQ Festival on August 15 to see more brilliant blues programmed by JFA.
