Stroll over to Clinton Cove to see Broadway stars perform on the waterfront!
When Broadway’s dark, the waterfront is alive! Mondays from July 13 to August 10, stop by Hudson River Park’s Clinton Cove to see the greats perform. Broadway by the Boardwalk will feature theater’s stars performing for free.
New this year, each performance will begin with Stepping into the Spotlight, an exciting new showcase featuring Broadway’s next generation of stars. This special opening act will feature understudies from current Broadway productions and shine a light on the remarkable talent waiting in the wings. It’s a rare chance to see tomorrow’s Broadway stars today.
About the Performers
J. Harrison Ghee
J. Harrison Ghee is a Tony and Grammy Award-winning actor, making history in 2023 as the first non-binary performer to win Best Leading Actor in a Musical for their dual role in Some Like It Hot.
Recently, Ghee starred in Hadestown on Broadway, the Off-Broadway hit Saturday Church and the premiere of Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil. Other Broadway roles include Kinky Boots, Mrs. Doubtfire, Chicago and The Sting.
On television, Ghee has appeared in FOX’s Accused, Netflix’s Raising Dion, NBC’s Stumble, and HBO’s High Maintenance. Ghee hopes to inspire others to dream big and go full-out.
Stepping into the Spotlight: Kent Overshown
Kent Overshown is an actor and singer from Oakland, California, who recently made their Broadway debut in the Tony Award-winning revival of Ragtime! New York audiences have also seen Kent in Titanic, Promenade, and the acclaimed 2024 Gala Presentation of Ragtime at New York City Center Encores!
Their national touring credits include Moulin Rouge!, The Gerswhins’ Porgy and Bess, Memphis, and The Book of Mormon. Regional credits include productions at La Jolla Playhouse, Goodspeed, Walnut Street Theatre, Casa Mañana, Stages St. Louis, Two River Theatre, ACT of Connecticut, and The Muny.
Whether on Broadway, on tour, or beneath an open summer sky, Kent is endlessly grateful for the chance to tell stories through song. They believe the best storytelling helps us remember who we are, dream a little bigger, and find a little more wonder in what might be possible.
