Kick off Dance is Life’s residency in the Park with the electrifying Ladies of Hip Hop!
This series will start the celebration on Thursday, July 10, with select Mondays following. Then, join us at Pier 76 on select Mondays starting July 21 for an intergenerational social dance party, in partnership with Dance is Life. Learn to hustle through the summer with a vibrant, outdoor dance celebration.
Dancers of all ages and skill levels are invited to find joy in movement as they dance to high-energy music, with a focus on Latin Hustle. Dance is Life is curated and led by Abdiel Jacobsen and Natasha Diggs.

About Dance is Life
Dance is Life is a social dance party created as a free service to provide the life-giving, life-sustaining vital force that dance and music gives to those who participate. It started as a collaborative vision between co-founders Abdiel Jacobsen and Natasha Diggs during the pandemic as an organic community-led gathering to foster community connection and creative expression, and gained momentum by word of mouth, social media, and passersby discovering it.
Inspired by the legacy of the Latin Hustle danced for over 50 years, Dance is Life incites interpersonal connection, expression, and play amongst multigenerational, diverse communities of street and club dancers while also revitalizing cultural-historical heritage sites and expanding to new locations around the city, nation and globe.
About Ladies of Hip Hop
Ladies of Hip Hop (LOHH) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering girls and women in Hip-Hop culture. A global organization rooted in New York City, LOHH reclaims and transforms spaces to provide all women a platform to be heard, seen, respected, and celebrated within the greater Hip-Hop and arts community. By providing resources and opportunities such as dance training, performance showcasing, mentorships, educational programs, career development support, and networking, we are building the next generation of hip-hop’s changemakers.
