Hudson River Park has long been a place of gathering on Pride Sunday. Every year, the Park hosts thousands of people who come together to celebrate Pride, particularly along the Park’s West Village esplanades, and at Piers 45 and 46.  Hudson River Park recognizes the importance of this day for the LGBTQ+ community and we strive to ensure all our guests have a safe and enjoyable day. Special amenities provided by the Park to support this annual large gathering in Greenwich Village will include porta-sans, water fountains and additional safety lighting.

Safety for all our guests is always our highest priority. To manage crowding conditions, please expect limited closures in the area, including on both sides of Route 9A, and expect the adjacent bikeway to be extra crowded that day.

As a reminder, all Park rules will be in effect. Please also pay particular attention to the following Park & City rules which are needed given the large crowds that will be on site:

  • Respect Park closures, including cordoned off areas.
  • No coolers or other large containers.
  • No open flames or flammable materials, including BBQs or grills, heating elements. Generators are prohibited.
  • No glass containers (and please use trash receptacles in support of Park landscapes and the Hudson River).
  • No large speakers; amplified sound requires NYPD permit.
  • No vending allowed without Hudson River Park Trust permit.

Please be aware that the areas around Pier 45 and Pier 46 may be crowded in connection with Pride celebrations. In addition, for safety, Gansevoort Peninsula and 14th Street Park will be closed for the entire day, and Little Island will close at 12:00 PM. Due to the mass gathering, no special or private events will be permitted, and access to certain areas may be restricted for safety as needed. Additional items deemed unsafe or dangerous for the Park or Park visitors may be prohibited at the Park’s discretion.
