Hudson River Park’s waters are designated as a protected Estuarine Sanctuary by New York State law. To help preserve this important resource while still providing for the safe operation of vessels, Sanctuary waters are patrolled by the Hudson River Park Trust, and by other governmental security and environmental agencies including NYC Police Department’s Harbor Unit, US Coast Guard and NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.
