As we wind down a year like no other, we’re taking a look back at the new ways we connected with our community and the Park’s role in our lives this year, as well as new beginnings that give us hope for the brighter days ahead.

This year the promise of spring's renewal feels especially life-giving, and we're counting down the days with springtime highlights.

In recent weeks, large schools of menhaden have been observed in our local waters. Unfortunately, numerous menhaden have been observed as dead or struggling to swim, an event called a fish kill. Learn more about this event and how it is connected to recent whale sitings in our waters.

We've seen an especially colorful autumn across Hudson River Park. We're celebrating the best of this beautiful season by sharing some of our favorite fall views from across the Park.

On Saturday, November 7, Hudson River Park celebrated sustainability at the Park’s third annual Pumpkin Smash, collecting nearly 1,000 pounds of pumpkins which our Park staff will turn into nutrient-rich compost. Join us in celebrating an extraordinary moment in Hudson River Park history. Today, on September 30, we officially opened Pier 26, the Park’s first new pier since 2010 and the first major public space to open in Manhattan in 2020.
