Fleet Week at the Intrepid Museum

In recognition of our men and women in uniform, the Intrepid Museum celebrates Fleet Week from May 26–29, 2023!

Throughout the weekend, enjoy musical performances and explore a variety of displays, activities and demos from the military, including the U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, and even some antique military vehicles.

Saturday, May 27, enjoy activities and displays from the Intrepid Museum and its partners, plus live music and theatrical performances throughout the day. The schedule below is listed for informational purposes only; visit the Intrepid Museum’s website for more details on Fleet Week programming.

Activities and Displays: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

U.S. Marines
The Marines are here! Make your time at FWNY count and get ready for an immersive experience with the U.S. Marines! Try on their gear, camouflage yourself at the cami paint station, see their tactical vehicles on display, and learn more about what it takes to stand among The Few. Remember to leave your mark and participate in the Marines chalk art project.

U.S. Coast Guard
Join the USCG for a heaving line-throwing activity. Visitors can test their strength in a heaving line throw activity and can even try on some of the Coast Guard gear. Prizes and giveaways all day long.

Intrepid Museum Activities
Enjoy workshops and hands-on activities from the Intrepid Museum all day long. Activities include: Morse Code Bracelets, Camouflage Planes, and learning how to tie nautical knots.

Intrepid Former Crew Members
Meet a former USS Intrepid crew member and learn about their time in service.

Claymore Vets
Claymore Vets is a woman veteran-founded non-profit with a mission to cultivate a creative and connected community of veterans, first responders and artists to foster social reconnection and growth rooted in clay and visual arts. Claymore Vets will facilitate a large mural of a historical image of the USS Intrepid created by veterans and artists. Visitors will have the opportunity to co-create the mural with these veterans and artists.

Veterans Moving Forward
Provides service and emotional support dogs to veterans dealing with mental and/or physical challenges at no cost to the veteran or their family. Support dogs will be available to do some demonstrations throughout the weekend.

LEGOLAND Discovery Center Westchester
Visitors will have the opportunity to co-create a space shuttle mosaic out of Legos!

U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary
The Coast Guard Auxiliary is the volunteer component of the U.S. Coast Guard. As experts in boating safety and boating education, they work to ensure everyone has a safe and fun time on the water.

Regiment Gaming
Regiment Gaming is America’s largest military gaming community. They have thousands of veteran and active duty streamers across all platforms and regularly compete in charity eSports tournaments to raise money for and support Military non-profit organizations. Visitors will get the chance to play some of these games with a veteran for a chance to win some cool prizes. You are not alone. We have your six.

Guide Dog Foundation/America’s VetDogs
For more than 75 years, the Guide Dog Foundation has trained and placed guide dogs and service dogs to provide increased independence and enhanced mobility to individuals who are blind, have low vision or have other disabilities. Visitors will learn more about guide dog training through demonstrations and hands-on activities.

USO
Since 1941, the USO has been the nation’s leading organization to support America’s service members, and their families, throughout their service to the nation. Take a walk through history to see how the organization has evolved from its early days during World War II to meet the ever-changing needs of today’s service members.

American Red Cross
The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies and supports our military and veteran population through the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Visitors can write a note of thanks to a military member and learn hands-only CPR training.

Coca-Cola will be delighting attendees with a Coca-Cola Real Magic inspired photo activation while highlighting their new premium sleek can and sampling.

Naval Submarine League and Submarine Force Library & Museum
Visitors will engage in submarine-related hands-on activities using concepts of: buoyancy, density, force and motion, and propulsion.

NYC Ghostbusters League
NYC Ghostbusters are back aboard the Intrepid to teach you how to make your own cross link polymer gel, our own scientific recipe for ectoplasmic slime.

The United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps
A nationwide, congressionally chartered, nonprofit youth organization sponsored by the US Navy and the US Coast Guard, serving children 10–17 years old. Visitors will compete in challenges and games with the sea cadets, learn about the program through demonstrations and tactical gear, and win some cool prizes.

American Legion
Learn about the work these veterans do and explore hands-on activities.

Stage Schedule

11:00 AM: Coast Guard Jazz Band:
The United States Coast Guard Traditional Jazz Band was organized in 1970 to perform classic jazz, blues, and rags with a “New Orleans” flavor. The Traditional Jazz Band has entertained audiences across America, the former Soviet Union, England, Japan and Taiwan.

12:30 PM: Musical Performance: featuring Titanique and Rock & Roll Man
Titanique is a musical celebration that turns one of the greatest love stories of all time into a hysterical and joyful slay-fest. Want to find out what really happened to Jack and Rose on that fateful night? Our story begins when Céline Dion hijacks a Titanic Museum tour and enchants the audience with her totally wild take, recharting the course of Titanic’s beloved moments.

Rock & Roll Man, the original musical about a musical original. Alan Freed was a trailblazing Cleveland DJ who heard the future—and knew he had to let it sing. He named the genre “Rock & Roll,” bringing music to the masses and integrating artists and audiences on the airwaves and in concerts for the first time in history, uniting people through their love of music. Featuring an original score and classics created by legends such as Little Richard, Chuck Berry, LaVern Baker, Buddy Holly, Bo Diddley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Screamin’ Jay Hawkins.

1:00 PM: Center for American Military Music Opportunities Presents: Donnie Isaacs and Low Country
Low Country has a vintage country sound and includes Combat Veteran Donnie Isaacs, Army Veteran Aaron Isaacs and Jim Hurricane Whitaker. Aaron is a combat veteran and a proud member of CAMMO (Center for American Military Music Opportunities). He has also performed in the Invictus games and on America’s Got Talent with Voices of Service.

3:00 PM: Performance: America’s Sweethearts
The Andrews Sisters and beyond! This vintage vocal trio sings music from the 1860s to the 1960s in the style of the girl groups of yesteryear – all with a slice of old-fashioned fun!
