Kids Week at the Intrepid Museum

Learn and explore during Kids Week at the Intrepid Museum, February 17–24 at Pier 86.

During Kids Week, children of all ages and interests will learn about STEAM through fun-filled activities, NASA displays & exhibits, live animal shows, hands-on workshops, performances, special guests and interactive demonstrations designed to educate and inspire.

This year, Kids Week will feature three days of space-themed programming, featuring planetarium shows and a range of displays and demonstrations from NASA. Explore life in space and get your burning questions answered during an exciting talk and Q&A session with former NASA Astronaut Joan Higginbotham. Former NASA Astronaut and Intrepid Museum Space Advisor Mike Massimino will lead the discussion.

2024 Kids Week Programming Schedule

All week, Intrepid Museum educators and a wide variety of exciting partners will lead live demonstrations, planetarium presentations and performances throughout each day. All Kids Week programming is free with Museum admission.

American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation will be provided on February 18, 21 & 24. Visitors who are deaf or hard of hearing and their families can register for free tickets for days with ASL interpretation with this form. Special Events and Appearances – Wednesday, February 21 (ASL Day)

Kids can discover how incredible invertebrates survive in the wild with tabletop displays and live arthropod animal ambassadors from the Beardsley Zoo. They can also explore hands-on activities to learn what makes every Met Opera performance possible—from music and dance to wigs, costumes, props, and lighting.

Families can enjoy additional hands-on activities, workshops, and displays from Zack and Zoey Adventures, Blue Man Group, Ballet Hispánico School of Dance, Naval Submarine League and Submarine Force Library & Museum, Madame Tussauds New York, LEGOLAND Discovery Center Westchester and more. They can also meet children’s book author Tami Lewis Brown.

Audio description of stage presentations will be available for individuals who are blind or have low vision. Additional verbal description and touch experiences will also be available.

American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation will be provided.
